In addition, Jordyn Reil’s high audition score made her eligible to audition for All State. In January, she auditioned and was accepted into the Massachusetts All State Chorus. Her audition score was among the highest in the state. Jordyn will spend three days in Boston rehearsing with the All State Choir and will perform in a concert at Boston Symphony Hall on Saturday, March 2, 2019.
EHS will host an African American History performance on February 15th in the high school auditorium for students. Center stage will be a moving dramaturgy performance by The Enchanted Circle Theater of Holyoke highlighting the work and life of Ida B. Wells who was a tireless activist for Black suffrage.
Adding to the discussion will be Dr. Battle-Baptiste, from UMass-Amherst, who will speak on the social layering and implications of exclusion and how to build upon community assets.
The ideal and principles of activism, empathy, compassion, inclusion and working for a cause will be discussed in classroom advisory periods before and after the program.
